Is there any simple way to just get songs off you ipod?
If you've purchased the songs from iTMS, then iTunes should offer to do it for you when you synchronize the iPod. If these are songs you've previously loaded from other CDs, there is shareware out there that will do it for you. I recently had my iBook die, with my iPod being my only backup. I found shareware online for approximately $20 that came to the rescue and saved the music--even the songs I'd bought from iTMS.
I don't recall the name of the software now, though I have it at home on my MacBook. I think you can Google search for iPod manager, that sort of thing. When I get home, I'll update this post with the name of the software I used.
Senuti will do the job for you.
And for free as well.
I use a program called Senuti for my Mac.
If you do it on windows I use one called iDump.
Both are very similar and do a good job. And they are freeware.
I just tried Senuti. I downloaded it, started it up, plugged in my iPod, and waited. But my iPod never showed up. Finally I looked at it and it said do not disconnect. But after waiting a long time I finally disconnected it. Now I can't get it to reset at all, none of the reset commands are doing anything. So use at your own risk.
Senuti looks to be nice, it looks alot like iTunes. I have always used iPodDisk though, and it has worked really well for me. It just works in the finder, and has all your files sorted just like your iTunes music folder.
ok i got my ipod to reset finally, it just took a few tries in a row to get. senuti seems pretty nice, if you play a song in it it even stops iTunes and just plays off your iPod, that and you don't have to search through artist folders getting just the albums you want off your iPod. I will probably use Senuti from now on.
