actually, it's not pound OR hash. the technical, scientific name for # is "tic-tac-toe symbol".
I liked special character finding a lot more in the days of Key Caps (they axed this in Panther). Simple app, showed a graphical representation of your keyboard, and the letters would change to their corresponding symbols if you held down option, shift, or option-shift. I did not actually realize that a special symbol locator was still in Panther, just moved to the keyboard menu-- how annoying.
