After checking my Activator I can't figure it out. Under the "At Lockscreen" -> "Short Hold - Sleep Button" -> "System Actions" there was once a "Do Nothing" action. It is oddly absent now. But other actions have the "Do Nothing" option. It would appear that rpetrich removed that as an option.

To get it back here's what I did. Navigate to /Library/Activator/Listeners/libavtivator.system.nothing and edit the info.plist by removing the "libactivator.lock.hold.short" from the "incompatible-events" array. Respring and look in your Activator settings. The "Do Nothing" for a short hold of the sleep button will be back.
I tried what you said, and the "Do Nothing" option came back, but when I test it out at the lockscreen, my phone keeps crashing into Safe Mode.

Thanks for your help bro.
I just installed icaughtya from cydia and seems to have that option automaticly.
It also takes a pictures with the front facing camera and emails it to you when someone enters the wrong password or tries to turn off the phone.
Turning off is disabled on lockscreen when the passcode is on with this package. Pretty cool to have and at you get a picture of the thief and time, date and location information with email or text.
The features of this sound pretty good. I'll give it a try later tonight when I have more time to play around with it.

I honestly don't know what to say to that. It doesn't crash for me on me 3Gs or 4S.

Quick Compose is part of BiteSMS and probably some of the other Message replacement apps: iRealSMS, etc.

Double press home button on lock screen -> activate Music app
Swipe from bottom -> app switcher

and that's it :D

That's brilliant! I'm gonna do this too. With a password lock, it'll make it impossible for a thief to turn off the phone and disable FindMyIphone (aside from them restoring, of course).

With a password lock, won't it be impossible for a thief to turn on the phone ;)

Ahh, I thought there was some extension to pull up a "compose" screen of the native Messages app. That would be sweet!

Wow I think I may use activator more than anyone lol I love activator, makes using the phone so much easier and convenient.

Status bar swipe right=shazam
Status bar swipe left=Cydia
Status bar swipe down from left=call bar
Status bar double tap=settings

Icon spread=ifile
Icon pinch=spending app

Swipe up from bottom left=wifi
Swipe up from bottom=kill background
Swipe up from bottom right=Bluetooth

Volume up hold=next track
Volume down hold=prev track
I used to haw volume up, down toggle between play/pause, but it doesn't work anymore =(

Triple home click=flashlight
Power button hold=camera

Double tap status bar-take me to Phone
Tap and Hold it-open SMS app
Swipe left-simulate Home button action
Swipe right-open app switcher

It's great, I can manage my phone almost completely without ever having to push the Home button physically. Its faster switching and saves on the wear/tear of the button.

Shake for screen capture is all I use. I can't remember any more than that :)

I used to do this until I kept taking screenshots of the incoming call while I was walking with my phone in my pocket and a phone call would come in.

The one I LOVE is icon pinch on the homescreen for the sleep button. I just pinch two fingers together on the homescreen and the phone turns off. Looks really slick. :D

I'm looking for a good gesture to bring up the app switcher. I was using slide in from bottom to bring it up but I have Infinidock installed so it makes that gesture hard to use.

Any ideas what to use?

Thanks.

Hi.

In respect to the "do nothing" option discussed above, I would very much like to set "do nothing" to the pressing of the round 'home' button on my iPhone 4.

I find it annoying that the iPod starts automatically when the button is pressed while the phone is locked.

I changed the setting to "take a photo" in Activator, but I am getting annoyed with that setting too.

Is there a way to make the round home button "do nothing" when the phone is locked?

Hey bro, I followed your directions on how to get the "do nothing" option and I enabled it and still when my 4S is on lock screen where you enter the pin if I hold the power button the slide to power off comes on.
Weird.
I then switched the action to short hold the power button to ipod controlls and still the slide to power off comes up.
I dont get it.
Any ideas?

No ideas. Both the 1.6.1 and the 1.6.2 beta 1 respect the do nothing event on mine. Have you tried respringing and rebooting? My guess is that because even the iPod controls are not showing up that you could have something interfering with it, like LockInfo or Intelliscreen. I have LockInfo on my 4S and it doesn't prevent the short hold action from working. Have you also tried the short hold action on the homescreen to do something like take a screen shot?

No lockinfo or intelliscreen installed.
I think it does kinda work but not all the way like its supposed to. Maybe that's why they didnt include it in the settings.
Like if I select for example short hold sleep button to "take screenshot" then respring/restart the phone.
Im at the lockscreen I hold the power button down and it takes a screenshot but I continue to hold it down and the slide to power off comes up.
So for you at lockscreen you can hold the power button down for 10+ seconds and the slide to power off never comes out?
Thank you again for you time looking into this, I appreciate it.
Im gonna see if I can disable turning off the phone while on lockscreen without installing additional security packages like icaughtyou or Igotya since I had some issues with icaughtyou earlier.

Yep. I can hold down the sleep button at the lockscreen till the phone dies and the power thing still won't show. One thing that I just now thought of is that I have that GPower Pro tweak installed. That could be the key to making Activator respect the do nothing action.

I have my Activator set to double tap to initiate notification center...is there a way to eliminate the pull down option for NC? I tried doing it thru Activator as a "Do Nothing" but it still happens...

I am glad this thread got resurrected, because reading it just taught me how to re-enable “Do Nothing” for all actions. I don’t know why it was disabled for any of them, but I’m happy to have them back.

I have a lot of Activator actions set up, which I may get around to listing at some point. For now, here are a few of my favorites:

Lock button short hold = SpringFlash (toggle torch)
Home button double tap = LastApp
Home button short hold = Show switcher
At Springboard, Home button single press = Show switcher

At Lockscreen, Home button short hold = Unlock
At Lockscreen, either volume button, or double-tap clock = ProCamera
Swipe Status Bar either direction = SBSettings
Slide-in from Top/Top-left/Top-right = Do Nothing (mostly disables the NC)

Both volume buttons = Airplane mode toggle
Volume Down, Up = Rotation lock toggle
Volume Up, Down = Monocle (set to hide/unhide Status Bar)

At springboard and in apps:
Swipe left status bar: atomic web
Swipe right status bar: shazam
Double tap status bar: settings
Double tap left status bar: remote app
Double tap right status bar: lockdown pro
Swipe down left status bar: camera
Swipe down right status bar: spending app
Hold volume up: next track
Hold volume down: previous track
Volume up, down: activate switcher
Volume down, up: activate Siri
Short hold home button: music app
Long hold home button: show contacts
Double press home button: activator menu with all apps
Triple press home button: Facebook
Short hold power button: activator menu with power options (power down, reboot, respring, safe mode)

At lock screen:
One home button press: unlock device
Short hold power button: led light app

Clearly you can tell I love activator lol
