So the new keyboards is so far exclusive to the new iMacs, meaning only a few lucky ones have been able to get a good a feel for them. The touch-id is the most attractive new feature for me for sure, but other than that, is there any difference to the old keyboard? It's seems to be really difficult to find any impressions online which is strange.

Same as the former Magic KB, other than the Touch ID and being color coordinated.

The Magic keyboard is marginally better than the last one I used, but that's not saying much. It doesn't flex, it does have slightly different feel to use, but is still utter and complete junk for serious typing.

How does it compare with the M1 MacBook keyboards?
I prefer my M1 MacBook Air keyboard over the Magic Keyboard 2. I love typing on the Air.

Really? The magic keyboard is actually one of the best keyboards for serious typing I've used, and I've used a lot of keyboards. I'ts what I used to write my masters thesis (I actually bought it for that purpose). Personally I'm not that fond of mechanical keyboards though, I find the sound distracting.

I agree! I love the Magic Keyboard 2, but the M1 MacBook Air's keyboard is even better. The best I ever had.

Just goes to show that it is all about personal preferences. I grew up with typewriters and mechanical keyboards from the late 70s and 80s were almost as good. Membrane keyboards... well, not awful. But these things have minimal travel so little feedback, and flat tops so no location of finger presses. They help me make lots of errors - hence the key I wear out first is backspace.

And, the letters wear off.

Cheap, nasty, and not suited to the task. Just my opinion, of course.

It flexes and that needs to be remediated.
Are you talking about the smaller one or the bigger one? And is it any different than the previous version?

I’ve heard about the older big one flexing. It seems the issue would be fixed it Apple just put 6 feet on the bottom instead of 4, with two in the middle.

I love the new magic keyboard that came with my M1 iMac. I have the smaller one but I'll get the larger keyboard with the numbers pad once Apple sells them separately. The Touch ID key is nifty. I'm a touch-typer so this keyboard is perfect for me. Lots of folks rail against it but it's definitely my jam.

The small one. I never had the previous one to compare. Yes it does need feet in the middle.

Love the new M1 iMac keyboard - didn't want the small one, so I opted to get the optional full sized w/ numeric keyboard.

Touch ID is much better as it is larger than the Macbooks.
