How do you normalize audio in iMove 10.1.14?

I am brand new to iMovie and have been trying to normalize audio - I watched various YouTube videos and they all demonstrate how to do this by clicking on a "gear" icon in the clip and then a menu appears with a "Normalize Audio" button

However, I cannot find this gear on any of my clips - is there some secret menu I am missing?

Is it the "Auto" button that shows when you click the little speaker icon in the preview window?

I believe you select all the clips you want to normalize between then click the "Auto" button.

OK so the "Auto" button has replaced the "Normalize audio" option?

I think maybe. I remember having to normalize one time when video editing and IIRC that's what I used.
No problem
