Or do you? I know some just have them in the order they get them, some use files for different categories, and other ways. I personally organize not in files but order most used to least in categories on the screens. It makes sense to me but my wife has a totally random looking to me layout. Just curious if people are OCD or not. 😂

I used to have them organized by function. Then I restored from a backup and that just screwed up my careful organizing. So now I don’t worry about it.

One of my co-workers organizes hers by color. It’s hilarious!

I have most apps in folders and most used apps on the first screen.

Folders:
Apple apps - apple & watch apps
Financial - bank, utilities, insurance apps
Productivity
Stores - Retail/restaurant apps
Entertainment- All media streaming apps
Favorites - Apps I use often, but not daily
School - Apps/links related to kid’s school/my work

I like to have only one page for all the apps.

By related type. First page, alarm clock app, clock app, moon phase app, calendar app, weather app. Second page, app store related apps, third page, media apps, fourth page audio apps, and so on.

I have one central folder in the dock for every app I want to be able to access from any page. Phone, camera, email, messages, etc.

I like that idea. Hhmmm. Damn maybe more work for me on this rainy day.

I only have 2 pages. Most used apps on first page for quick access and the rest on second page. My less often used apps such as airline apps since I fly maybe once every 3 months are tucked into folders on the 2nd page.

The topic comes up every few weeks I feel - time to make a sticky.

I don’t care for folders or dedicated home screens anymore, most of my apps are stuffed in a few folders and I find it via the build-in search. To me that’s much quicker than the browsing around on the screen, swiping through screens or folder to finally find what I’m looking for.

I miss the days of being able to manage the iphone screens and folders in itunes 😢

I like to have all the most important apps available on the first page or in a folder on the first page - then other pages grouped by type ie games, hiking, health and others

My first home screen and dock has my most frequently used apps. There is one folder "Messaging" on the first screen that contains several apps.

The rest of my apps are grouped into folders by category like "News", "Sports", "Finance", "Travel", "Shopping", etc.

Within each folder, the apps are generally displayed by the most frequently used.

The built-in apps that I don't use but can't/won't delete go in a folder labeled "Apple".

Built-in search is pretty good if you remember the app's name.

I like having a clean first screen with my 9 favorite apps in the bottom right where it’s easiest to reach along with essential apps at the top. The next 2 screens are alphabetical.

Can’t wait for list view on iOS 14!

There's an app that lets you back up your iPhone home screen layout, which includes folders and whatnot. That app also lets you organize the apps by color ... so that may very well be what she used: https://www.imobie.com/anytrans/

I organise based on the following priorities.

1. Most used to least used page by page
2. Most used towards the bottom of the page within individual pages.
3. Categorised folders but still keeping the order as per above points.
4. 4 Most used apps on the dock.

Although I use spotlight search mostly for everything other than the apps on the first page.

i keep my phone at one home screen. A sizable part of the arrangement dates back to my original iPhone in 2007; I got used to where the apps were back when they couldn’t be rearranged, and I’ve kept a number of them in the same spots. After 13 years of those apps being in those locations, it’s basically muscle memory. The top row, YouTube, maps, the third row aside from the clock, and the dock have remained constant, although I did swap out the music app a few years back for one that works like the old music app. The rest are my most used apps, and the folders are vaguely grouped by functionality.

This is me.

I do have a couple of folders I'll dig into, organized by some logical category (eg. work-related apps in one folder, etc), but I use spotlight for almost all app launches.
