how do you permanently keep Macintosh HD under Locations?

I can move it there (well the link) but anytime the PC goes into pause mode, or a reboot...it disappears - how can I keep it there permanently?
 
Open Finder preferences > Sidebar and put a checkmark next to "Hard Disks".
