We have a couple of printers hooked up to our wireless network (airport extreme). They're not wifi capable, but rather connected by usb to airport expresses around the house, and show up on the network. We print to them from various iMacs and macbook pros. Now my wife has an ipad2 and wants to print from that.

All the information available seems to be about wifi enabled printers. Is there a way to print from her iPad2 to our printers on our home network?

Thanks!

Once I do that, do I run airprint on the iPad2? is airprint an iPad app?

No. No need to run an app, it's a feature of iOS 4.2 (and above) on the iPad. You should just be able to use the Print command via the standard Share button in all apps that support it - including Mail, Safari, most built-in apps and many 3rd party apps.
