Sheesh.

Now for a doozy. How y'all pronounce nVidia??
Inna gadda da vida, baby.
While we're at it, what about Iomega
Yo-may-gah.
and Laice?
Junk.

Exactly. The other way would make the alumi PowerBooks sound as if they were named after a person.

You're reasoning does not stand with me... The Titanium Powerbook came out first. When it came out, there was no Al-book.

People who owned the Ti-books mostly called them tie-books.. I had one.. I knew about 50 people who had them, no one called them T I books.

I find it interesting that people so easily get into such heated arguments over something that does not really matter or make a difference, and where there is not necessarily any right answer.

When it comes to actually discussing things that are difficult to understand and where there are complex naunces, people will often avoid those topics so as to not get caught being wrong.

Really though, why would someone calling the Titanium Powerbook (really it was just a "Powerbook" officially) mean that we had to call the Aluminum Powerbook or Macbook an Al book. No one is holding a gun to anyone's head here.. There is no right answer.. When people ask me what I have, I say I have a "seventeen inch powerbook and a macbook pro"

Why write so much, if it really doesn't matter? :D

Who is or was imposing order? People started writing "AlBook" (except for one person who wrote "AiBook" consistently) to differentiate them from "TiBook" and that's all there seemed to be about it.

Its definitely T-I Book like "tee eye"

Why? Ti stands for Titanium. You always pronounce element abbreviations by the one/two letters, not by how they sound together.

For example:

Iron (Fe)= "F-E" like "Eff- eee" not "Feee"

Aluminum (Al)= "A-L" like "aye ell" not Al like Alexander
---

And besides, I'm from Connecticut, we have no accent ;) :D :p

Surely it does make sense for a tie-book. I presume that people call it that because it is 2 syllables and is shorter than saying powerbook which is 3. tee-eye-book is also 3 syllables so, tie-book

That and Mitthrawnuruodo and Nermal both voted tie-book to only Bousoku voting tee-eye book means 2 moderators to one.

I'd say Tie Book, but I can see how people could call it a Tee Book (TiVo = Tee Voh, TiBook = Tee Book?).

Tee-eye book.

It's because Ti is the atomic symbol for Titanium, and that's pronounced "tee-eye."

Depends if it's called Ti because it's the first two letters of Titanium, or because it's the atomic symbol.

If the Ti is the atomic symbol, Tee-eye would be correct.

If Ti is just a shortcut and it's the combination of the two words, much like isn't = is+not, then it would be Tie.

Am I the only idiot that pronounced it nuh-vidia?

Yes.

I say Tee Eye Book, but I used to be a Micro$haft nazi back when those were around...

Has Apple ever said what the proper way to say it is.

"TiBook" was never an official name, and I remember hearing rumors at the time that Steve Jobs would get really upset if he overheard someone call it a "Tie-Book" because they were supposed to call it a PowerBook.

Is that true? Hell if I know....but I do know it's pronounced "Tie Book" ;)
