My dad just received his 6 + but won't open it until he figures out how to transfer his dad's voicemails, who just passed this summer.

iBackupBot will grab voicemails, texts, basically anything from your phone/backup and you can save the files somewhere for safe keeping.

    Great program. Very versatile.

This. I used ibackupbot and it was great. I was in the same situation as your dad OP. I wanted to retrieve my dad's voicemail. Ibackupbot did the trick.
