So I shocked my partner and friends lol. Apparently, it blows their mind that I actually have no sense of organization on my homescreen. Aside from changing the wallpaper, my homescreen is stock settings and the apps (I have about 146 apps) I download just add to the homescreen.

When I need a specific app I just use spotlight search.

How do you guys set up your screen? Do you use folders? App Library?

I have nothing on my home screen. I access all my apps either in the App Library, or like you, via Spotlight search. I have about 35 apps, including stock. I only have apps on my iPhone that I use.

I shockingly use most of them fairly regularly. I guess I never really paid it much mind before but I had handed my phone to
My boyfriend to call an Uber and he was perplexed at the “chaos”.

It's controlled chaos. If it works for you, then it's perfect :)

For me, I only have 1 home screen containing all of my apps.
My apps (178 in total as of today) are arranged as:
  • My 4 most commonly used apps are installed at the bottom bar.
  • My next 12 most commonly used apps (apps like settings, calendar, email, weather etc) are installed at the top of the page (ie they take up the top 3 rows)
  • The rest of my apps are organised into various folders (ie Work, Finance, News, Games etc). The most commonly used apps that I access in a folder are placed on the first page. Less commonly used apps are on the second, third, forth page etc etc.
For me, it means I can get access to the vast majority of my most commonly used apps in 1 to 2 presses. Turning off animations speeds things up further.

I don't use app library (wish I could disable it), don't have any widgets, and very rarely use spotlight...

It might be strange to some...but it works for me!!!

178 apps? I can not imagine.
Don't get me wrong, I was very surprised too!

To be honest, I could get rid of a few dozen apps. But I've haven't done it yet as my apps organised the way I want them to be, I've got plenty of spare capacity and I'm lazy...actually the main reason is that I'm just lazy and haven't done a thorough cull in a long long time...

….it is not out of the world. Haha
It's one of those things which just accumulates over time...

What surprised me was the banking apps: I've been fortunate enough to live and work in multiple countries...at the moment I've got 10 different banking apps across multiple countries. Some are used often, others are rarely used..but I still need them. I really should consolidate...

ha I think I'm odd in the opposite extreme of you. I have very few apps as I'm not a fan outside of the ones by the big boys. I just have a Home Screen which is my daily apps listed alphabetically and a second page with my occasional apps listed alphabetical. I really don't like folders so I never use them.. its a bit boring I suppose but I like it.

My Home Screen has 4 groups across the top for the things I use most. Everything else I search for when needed. The library is pretty functional for me.

My homescreen just contains one screen with 4 folders of apps that I use the most and anything else I just either pull down and search for the app or I swipe over to the app library and pick the app since those are also automatically categorized. Usually though I do the search option, I do have a few obscure apps that have names that I don't remember too much like my routers are TP Link but the app to control/view them is called Deco, fortunately though if I search "TP" the app shows up anyway.

My home screen is empty (gray unicolor background) with only the phone app in the bottom row.
Use Spotlight search to open and search for apps, however, I only have 18 apps total, so it is definitely manageable.

On the main screen I have just apps. On the screen to the right of it I have four folders with apps of a particular type in each and then the rest of that screen is apps.

My wife has everything on the main Home Screen. It’s filled with folders and all apps end up in the corresponding folder based on what the app is for.

I'm pretty much like this - but without the second page, or the widgets ... 😁

  • Front page is mostly stock apps that I use every day, it's not changed much in 5-years across multiple phones. A little thought has gone into what I can reach easiest with my right thumb.
  • It's important to me to have an empty row at the bottom - I don't know why.
  • Everything else in the App Library (no folders) and accessed from there or through Siri.
  • Regular culls of stuff I've downloaded, but not using anymore.
  • Helps that I also have a company-issued iPhone 11 for business, which is cleaner still; more or less Outlook + Chrome + OKTA + WhatsApp + Uber ...

Yeah I had your set up previously and I’ve only recently introduced the 2nd screen for occasional apps and must admit I tend to flip back and forth.

My biggest pet hate is when my kids put apps on my phone! They get accidentally deleted after 😂

Mostly widgets on front page. Full wide stack at the top that rotates. Folders interspersed with main apps I use.

Page two I have a half screen iCloud photos widget for memories, with secondary apps below

page three is Media. Netflix, Apple Music, Apple classical, prime, MLB, etc etc

page four onward is the wasteland. Some organization but most just apps

I have all apps moved to the right one screen and set in folders so I’ll have room for the background image I choose. No point in having a photo on the Home Screen if it covered with apps! Most used camera apps on dock in a folder.
