I have a Mac Pro that I'd like to sell (the 5,1) but I'm not sure if I can ship it in the original box, or if that box was in another box. I think that's how it was, but I know many have been shipping them just in the original white box.

I also found an Apple Studio Display I'd like to buy, but the owner has only the white original box. That's how you buy it in the store. Does anyone know if these, when you order them online/get them delivered by Apple, come shipped only in that white box, or is there anything else around it?

I think it comes in a box in a box, but how risky do you think it is to ship it without the second box?

The Studio Display comes in an outer heavy cardboard box. The white box is inside:

The seller needs to go to UPS or Fedex and have them pack it properly. I would not pay for one coming in the white box only. Apple ships them well-protected. It is your money so you take whatever risks you think acceptable...

Thanks, that's what I was looking for. The problem is to find a box with the right dimensions, which is just slightly bigger and than the white box. I think it needs to be tight so that the white box doesn't move inside.

With scissors and plenty of packing tape you can cut down a larger box so that it fits snugly - easiest if you can find a box which is right in one or two dimensions. Or if only slightly too large, pad it out with sheets of cardboard. Consider using a box with a double wall of corrugated cardboard.
