In Firefox this shows up as an S with a goofy looking symbol next to it. In IE it shows up as an S with a box next to it.

My firefox is up to date, but I never update / use IE... are you on a mac or something?

Ohhhhhh so that's what that weird box floating around my screen is.
I was wondering.
IE sucks and Windows sucks too!
Can't wait to get a MAC!

So 3G S⃣ it is then yes?
Might work on these forums if the majority of people here browse the web on Macs.

If you post that to anyone using Windows you just look like you're trying to say something in Chinese. It's not even close to an S inside a box...

Speaking of font handling on Macs, why do I see these funny symbols where there should be an apostrophe on MacRumors (in Firefox 3)?

In safari they don't show up, but neither do the apostrophes.

That used to happen when I used Firefox on my PC. But instead of those symbols in the place of the apostrophe's there would be '?' marks. So "what's" would look like "what?s". It was annoying.

I believe it has something to do with the page encoding - the site isn't sending the right header.

It should be iPhone 3G S.

iPhone Gs = more than one iPhone 3G
More than one iPhone 3G S = iPhone 3G Ss, not 3G S's as I saw AppleInsider did yesterday. Nothing more embarrassing than a poorly placed apostrophe in a headline.

Yah, I vote for 3G S⃣ .

If you can't see it because it doesn't have Mac, it's your loss.

Ironically, it doesn't work properly if you're viewing this site on an iPhone either...

Personally, I prefer to see it either as 3G S or 3GS (with 3Gs meaning multiple iPhone 3G devices)
