How do you turn an Avi file to a Mp4?

A little help? Are there any reliable programs worth downloading? Or should I just buy one? I am using Handbrakes for DVDs but don't know how to convert files to mp4 format... thanks!

FFMPEGX is better especially for the Apple TV but is harder to use.

I use iSquint for conversion to MP4. It's not as fancy as ffmpegx, but it gets the job done well.

Visual Hub even handles OGM and MKV files quite well compared to other programs. 😱
