Does anyone know where I could get the installer files that actually works?

Still looking for files that work...

You may try getting Mac OSX El Capitan from this website

This article from Macworld UK guides you on getting older versions of Mac OSX. You might want to consider getting OSX Sierra instead of El Capitan. I’m being careful on which site that's safe to get Mac OS and Macworld UK seems to be a reliable source on Macs.

I actually linked you to the actual official Apple sources. If you actually can’t make those actual files work, I actually don’t know what to say.

Hi barbu Your Link is correct and works fine. I tested the link and successfully downloaded El Capitan. After the download completion, checked the OS installer and works Okay.

Where are you? If in the San Francisco Bay Area PM me. Otherwise find someone who has a clean installation of El Cap on a disk and use SuperDuper! or Carbon Copy Cleaner to copy it onto your hard drive.
