Just recently bought one to match my iPad Pro 10.5 and couldn't be happier! I have been using notes, marking up photos, and even doing crossword puzzles with puzzazz. Not too much of a graphic artist, so that part doesn't help me too much.

What about you?

Photo editing in Affinity Photo for iPad. Fantastic for fine detail adjustment and a pleasure to use throughout the entire interface.

Main use: drawing on virtual whiteboard during videoconferencing.

I also use it when reading this forum. ;) it has the precision to hit that little mark as read button threads.

Oh, and to use the Disney coloring app. :)

Note taking, photo editing, drawing(doodling), etc. I just love the thing, I sometimes use it to just browse with.

Mostly taking notes and marking up/commenting on documents.
I use goodnotes most of the time and sometimes iannotate and noteability

Illustrations and other designerly work. Journaling... I like to type my thoughts down, but there's something about writing that is more personal. (Had a journal for my years in college and finished it up in December. Trying to convert to digital journaling for convenience.)

Thinking about picking one up today but not sure if it will be useful. I do not draw and take minimal notes but want to do some drone video editing and maybe responding to texts or emails in bed.

Would I be wasting my money? I know I have 2 weeks to return it but just looking for some input.

Seldom. Because it is poorly designed and there is no convenient way to clip it to my iPad Pro, it tends to stay on my desk when I take my iPad elsewhere.

What about its overall usefulness aside from carrying it? I would not be carrying it with me that often.

I want to find it useful, but generally it's nowhere near where I am. Do I get out of my chair and go upstairs to fetch it in case it might prove useful, or do I just work on my iPad the way Steve Jobs intended: with my fingers? I think it's a neat device, but I have to jump through hoops to keep from losing bits, keep it charged, and keep it with the iPad. It appears to me that Apple really doesn't care about the Pencil. There's not even a "Find My Pencil" function. (You'd also have to add "Find my Pencil Cap" and "Find My Female-Female Lightning Adapter, though.)

I think it’s a good thing. I don’t draw either, but I have found myself just sketching in notes, it works really well with coloring pages, and it looks cool.

It's finding new life with me for note taking during meetings. I have some meetings where a 70+ page packet is sent out a week ahead of time that everyone reviews beforehand. So I'll mark it up in one color before the meeting with thoughts and questions, and then I'll mark it up again in a different color during the meeting. This has proved useful since I can go back later and easily tell specifically what I did before or during the meeting. I've never liked typing notes during meetings.

Sadly mine just sits on the shelf - I should really sell it before they update it or something

I bought my Pencil as part of a package deal with an iPad, keyboard & pencil. Otherwise I wouldn't never have purchased one to begin with. I'm not really in the demographic that has a use for one, so my experience shouldn't be weighted too heavily, but I find that I almost never use it. The one use I've found for it is when I'm using Jump Desktop, it's a little easier to point at stuff than with my finger. The problem is that I use it so rarely that when I do need to use it, it's almost always dead.

  • ~These stylus tips have made my pencil indispensable.
~I have an iPad cover with the pencil holder so if I have my iPad, the pencil with the stylus tip is always with me.
~ I also keep a heavy, secure charger on the nightstand beside the wireless charger for my phone. It keeps the pencil stable and prevents the loss of the top while charging. Note the indentation to hold the cap or stylus tip.
