I very rarely minimize. I use expose to switch about 10 percent of the time. About 60 percent of the time I just click on the window I want (visible behind the active window). The rest of the time I use the dock to switch.

I do use expose quite frequently, but not to switch between windows. I use it to see the desktop.

I hide applications that I'm not using (but need running), or just leave them showing in the background, depending on what they are. CMD + Tab to switch between applications, or the Dock. The only time I use Expose is if I'm in an application with many windows open, that I need to quickly jump between.

did you know that after pressing cmt-tab that cmd-` sends it in the other direction (rather than use the more well known 3 key combo)
Not on my Norwegian keyboard, I'm afraid, I have to use cmd-<... ;)

...which, is also how I have to cycle through open windows of the current application (cmd-< or cmd-> aka shift-cmd-<) - for those applications that support this... basically all except Firefox... :(

I took minimising to encompass hiding, not sure why though. Yeah, lump me on the list of people who don't minimise. I hate not knowing how big my Dock is.

I'm hijacking a little here, but I saw a semi-funny joke the other day: How do you tell the difference between a Mac user and a "switcher"? A switcher thinks that Firefox is good.

i never minimize windows... it makes the dock look ugly :p

if i'm listening to music i generally don't keep the itunes window open either. i simply pick my playlist and close the window immediately thereafter.

but since i'm generally using my powerbook for ichat and safari, i tend to have quite a few windows open at any given time. for one, i hate tabbed browsing. so i'll usually have separate windows open for macrumors, facebook, gmail, erowid, livejournal, etc. in safari. and with ichat, especially when i've got several conversations going on at once, i just close the buddylist window to save some real estate.

when i was in elementary school we all had to take 'keyboarding' to learn how to type 'correctly'. well, i never really bothered to learn their prescribed methodology as it seemed to me at the time less efficient than what i was already doing. and, i mean, i type pretty bloody fast. so i'm not at all concerned about that fact.

nevertheless, for some reason i never learned to use the right shift key. even when i'm capitalizing like 'a' or 'q' or 'z', left shift is all that i use. SO... when i first got my powerbook and was learning about all the wonderful features of os x (namely exposé), the prospect of having to reach up to f11 all the time just didn't seem to me all that practical. and so now my exposé key is my right shift. and i have since become a model of computing efficiency.

honestly, if i had a quarter for every time i've ever tried to toggle exposé on my windows machine, i'd be a very wealthy individual. it's quite amazing, really. i mean, you almost don't realize how much better off you have it when you're using a mac. until, of course, you try going back to windows... ugh.

Well, since I prefer Firefox over Safari, I guess I'm a switcher...

Come to think, I did switch from the Microsoft Basic powered Laser 200 to my Amiga 500 in the late 80s... and switched to my first Mac in 1994... then switched from 68k Macs to PowerPC Macs 3 years later... and switched from OS 9 to OS X some years after that... so in a sense I am a true switcher... from Microsoft Basic to Mac OS X... with just a few steps in between... ;)

Hmm...I have Exposé mapped to the corners of my screen by using my mouse cursor.

Anyone else do that? I prefer that to hitting a key every time.

Stop over-analysing

Me too. We're not outcasts, we just think differently.

You're not alone! I somehow find it easier to 'Apple-H' (hide) the windows/applications,rather than using Expose. Then, I just 'Apple-tab' to get back.

I use Virtue with hot corners. Used expose a lot before virtue. But now I m using expose much less than ever. Hope Leopard has such feature built in with Linux like functionality.

Wait. I dont use anything other than alt Tab now. Stuck with a compaq rite now till the MB is launched:(
