If I put my MacBook Pro to sleep without closing the lid, I can't seem to ever wake it back up without closing, and then opening the lid. I tried all the keys on the keyboard, the power button, the touchpad, the touchpad button, nada. Is there a super secret key combo I don't know about to wake it up?

Any button should work, actually. Maybe you should have it checked.

Weird. I always just use the escape button. Never used anything else.
Next time I might try the sbace bar, as you guys suggest.

Make sure your batteries are charged or you are on external power. Sometimes if I put it to sleep in 'clamshell' mode i'll have to pop the cover open and put it back down again before it wakes up.

I think you may be able to wake with the power button too.

Wow! Hitting the space bar wakes up a mac?

And all this time I've been throwing cold water on mine and shaking it! :D:D:D:D

Just tried using the space bar, letters and so forth, tried the touch pad and the button, neither worked. Only my escape button worked. Now, I'm pretty sure I was in the habit of using the escape button for a reason.

    I like this One ;-)

Although I figured using the SHIFT button was best thinking it would "never" affect any program running... No other reason for me...

Opening the lid or touching a random key on the keyboard.

Agree with bobcan, this is good.
So is this, the sensitive approach is sometimes to be recommended.

    Love it.

Actually, I just press the power button (gently) on mine; must try some of the other suggestions, too. The idea of sharing my morning brew of strong coffee with my MBP appeals for some strange reason.......
    Cheers and good luck
