How does Apple handle SSD installation?

I would assume they do. I use icy dock myself and frankly, if I were ordering a MP today I would take the SSD matters into my own hands. They're already priced well beyond what they may be worth (imo), why pay Apple tax on a sub-standard SSD?

I don't think Apple provides them unless you order the SSD as a BTO from Apple. You could use one of these Icy Dock adapters from OWC.

In other words, SSD installation is the same as HDD.

If you're referring to "The solid state drives (SSD) come with adapters that fit the 3.5-in drive bays." line. I presume that's just general information for when you buy a SSD. The instructions I posted don't make any use of them.
