I know this was discussed somewhere before, I just can't find the damn thread.

I want the 8800gt but I don't want to wait 3-5 weeks and honestly I don't need the 8800gt right away, the ATI will work fine for now. I just need the 8800gt when I switch my gaming needs over to the Mac when I stop using my PC or it dies.

Question is, will the 8800gt be available in 6mo time or will they give you an upgrade kit option for a better card if it comes out? How do they work component upgrades, usually released with new machine revisions and thats it until they redo the Mac Pro again?

A better card WON'T come out. Just buy the 8800 GT when you want to. Apple's not one for changing one component at a time.

The card can be ordered seperataly. I ordered one form apple.se and it says approx 8 days. The Ati card is worth like 100$ max (or even lower?) so i didnt bother that i would end up with a spare graphic card (or use it to drive more screens).
