My 11 yr old son is using an old Series 1 Apple Watch because there’s no way I’m spending $400+ on a watch that he’s probably going to break. However, the battery is not lasting all day so I’m going to make an appointment to have the battery replaced.

I was wondering if anyone here has paid to have this done? If so, how long did it take? If you drop it off at your Apple Store they probably have to send it out? I assume Apple gives you back your original watch with a new battery?

I haven‘t had it done. However, I know Apple sends the watch out for service. And if it is under warranty, they replace it with a refurb. In your case, it will be out of pocket.

if I were in your parental shoes, I would get him a used series 3 instead for $75 -$100.

The price for a series 1 replacement is $199 + tax + $6.95 shipping. +1 for BasicGreatGuy’s suggestion. Also, the replacement could be new; it’s totally up to Apple’s discretion:

”Your replacement Apple Watch will be new or equivalent to new.”

It’s $79 to replace the battery for out-of-warranty Watches. I wish it was $49 but not too bad.

I'm hesitant to buy another watch over 2 years old lest I find myself back in the situation of an old worn battery that needs replaced.
