Im just wondering how appsync works? What exactly does it do (makes it so you can install cracked apps is not the answer I'm looking for)? Why cant you just install the .ipa file since you have to download it anyways?

It stops the iTunes verification process in apps. It is a God sent when your phone is replaced and you are a beta-tester. You won't even need provision files.

Mods can delete it if need be, I was just curious as too why cracked apps can't be installed unless you have appsync? They're cracked, right? Why can't you install them?

You just crossed that fine line, but I'll give you the answer before I report the thread.
Ever since 2.1 when you install apps from your computer, iTunes checks for a license to the software that you install. Appsync tricks your computer into thinking that this process has already happened.
