How does the iPhone 7 Plus compare/contrast to the iPhone XR?

If you care about weight and thickness, the 7 Plus is better. Unless you have money burning a hole in your pocket, stick with what you have.

P.S. Both phones run iOS.

I just upgraded from my 7 plus to XR. XR is so much better. In every possible way. The screen is not noticeable for me. I'm not using my XR from 5 inches away so I can't tell the difference. Size and weight is same for me since I use a case for both phones. The missing optical zoom was a bummer at first, but I just learned to walk closer to my subject. It's really not that hard lol. I've always used primes on my DSLR so this is no different.

I only upgraded because AT&T offered me the 128gb for $350 and 2 year contract with no changes to my monthly service billing. I turned around and sold my 7 Plus on CL for $350 so I pretty much just paid tax for my new XR.

Apple did a great job with iOS 12 of making older phones perform better. I was due an upgrade this year from my reliable 6S Plus. It took many visits to Apple store trying out the XR for me to eventually go with an 8Plus 256GB. I find the screen too narrow on the XR and felt cramped typing. And I hate the notch ( call me old fashioned). This has been a smooth upgrade to something familiar for me. I love 3D Touch, Dual Lens and the 1080p screen in a 16:9 ratio. XR may be faster but for my needs I don't notice the difference and dont want to give up those things. I would wait and keep the 7 Plus for another year. See what Apple have to offer next year.

I bought a friend an XR and have been comparing it to my 8 plus.

The XR makes the 8 plus feel old in many ways.

However, I've always noticed the text on the XR is softer and not as sharp as my 8 plus.

Unfortunate, otherwise I would upgrade to an XR in heart beat.

Those are my 2 holdouts from the 6s+

1. Poor text on IPhone XR (Good on Max)
2. Notch
