    Hi there,

I've never jailbroken anything before, or even looked into it. But my company wants to send some iPods or similar as gifts, and limit the recipient to only be able to access our app. Is this possible without jail breaking the devices? If we DO have to jailbreak the devices, are they ever still considered under warranty? I.e. if someone resets the device and loads proper iOS data?

A specific example I can think of is the restaurants at many NYC airports. They all have iPads with ONLY an ordering food and drinks app, plus maybe a Delta app and Maps app and perhaps Safari on them. All other apps that are forced upon us are gone, not just hidden in a folder, but gone. Like stock markets, watch, etc. Did Apple make these for them with special permission, or did they jailbreak theirs, or???

The only reasonable solution I have discovered so far would be to put all of the devices in guided access mode, typically for children, and then give them a little sheet of paper with a passcode.

    Thoughts community? Thanks in advance!

You can use Apple configurator (it's an OS X app) to lock the iPad. It's exactly what I do for our display iPads. I lock the iPad into safari just loading our website then lock the iPad so it only runs that app. You can do it for multiple apps etc.
