I clicked on a email address on a developer website to email a app developer and it still wanted me to readd the default mail app for iOS on my iPhone :(

Yes the email app is set as the default email client on my iPhone.

I'm not sure exactly what you mean. Are you saying you have the Apple Mail app as your default mail app on your phone? When you clicked to send an email to that developer from the website, iOS prompted you to ... here's where I'm not sure what you're describing.

Interesting i must need to install the mail app to get that first. Then remove the mail app.

Thanks.

So that makes sense because you have the "ask me which app to use each time" enabled.
True. But that link click was the first time I had clicked an email link since setting Gmail as default. So Apple had the “ask each time” set that way baked into the OS.
