Always assumed this would react in some way to the Apple Watch or iPhone but they’ve made no real mention about it that I’ve seen. Will the U2 chip in the watch get some added functionality?

How does an iPad interact with an Apple Watch or iPhone? It's going to be the same as that. They might do something funky like key in a VNC screen sharing session overlayed on top of the device to make it more readable, perhaps when the cameras recognise it, if you point the headset at the device, its screen could peel off into your window array etc.

But fantasies aside, it's probably going to be the same capabilities iPads currently share with other devices.

I could see Apple building in some form of Apple Watch connection to the Vision Pro. There will undoubtedly be fitness related applications and probably even a fitness plus Apple experience in the future. I’m sure Apple would love to build an Apple Watch compatibility. Right now I use my Meta Quest three on a daily basis for fitness apps.

Yeah, Sidecar is a good example - it's a specialised VNC / ARD session for certain devices, but it isn't able to be the sole display for a Mac, it doesn't have the same performance as a proper display plugged directly into a Mac, and the drawing tablet experiene has a degraded performance Vs. working on the iPad alone.
