Hey guys,

I bought a smart cover for my iPad and I'm wondering how durable it is. I feel like the top part is going to come off from the felt part on the other side. Has anyone had an experience like this?

Sent from my iPad.

Mine is still in nearly new condition, but only 3 weeks old.

Black leather here. Yours?

Yup, already started.

Mine is the polyurethane one. Will Apple replace it if it should start to do this? I don't wanna lose 40 bucks on something that won't last.

i got the leather one for the same exact concern with the polyurethane covers. when i looked at one that was being used by an apple store employee, it looked as if the corners of the stiff panels embedded in the cover were tearing thru the colored polyurethane material especially at the folds.

my black leather cover looks good still, although i had it replaced a week after i had it a few months ago due to the silver paint rubbing off on the magnetic hinges. now i have a plastic back shell on the iPad, so this prevents the smart cover hinges from rubbing the iPad when the cover is folded to the iPad's back.

Does anyone without the leather cover have a problem with theirs?

I appreciate all of the replies but I have the polyurethane cover, so knowing that the leather one lasts doesn't help me.

I have the Blue polyurethane one and it's still in one piece. Find it gets really dirty quickly but a wipe down with a wet sponge every so often brings it up like new.

About 3 months old, no signs of fallin apart.

Silver/grey polyuorothaney

Pink poly cover here. Been using it for 4 months and not one problem with the front or back material. Magnets have weakened however. I have a ZUM SC Ultimate on the way. It is an interlocking back case which holds the Smart Cover securely in place. Can't wait until it gets here!

I have a green poly. Got it same time I got my iPad, around a month after launch. Works fine, just does indeed get dirty easily and takes some good cleaning every so often. Mr. Clean eraser works like a charm.

Edit: I will also say though I just recently purchased a second case because I wanted something with a little more protection and durability out and about. Use the Smart cover more at home.

For me, the smart cover generally seems to be a great product. It keeps the screen of my iPad looking quite nice. Although one time when I dropped it with the smart cover on, it hit the hinges of the smart cover and left some dents in the iPad itself. Oh well :(

No major problems but make sure if you are reading a newspaper wash your hands after as my smart cover had plenty of print marks on it which could ages to remove.

I also have a few black bits that have appeared on the cover over time.

Black leather here.

I don't have any real problems, but it's going to be more or less a personal opinion because these things are very soft.

They *will* wear, and it will be visible unless you take great care.

My device is an everyday, workaday device, so I do not take great care.

:)
