Do you know this for a fact? Should I just go there at 6am on the next Friday?

And what if the store I wanna go to is opening tomorrow? SO maybe people couldn't reserve at all?

So are you saying you don't have a reservation? Not many people are going to allow their reservation lapse. None will if they weren't able to reserve for that store.

Do you guys think it would be worth it to wait on line at 12 or even 2 AM to wait for the white one? (I expect Apple stores to know by then if they would have white)

ps. When would Apple stores or other retailers receive shipments? I spoke to a radioshack rep (& yes I know thats not too persuading) who said they may know 2 days to a day b4.

why would we have to show up early? are we not expecting apple to have as many in stock as they have on previous launch days? Granted you will wait in line a long time, but apple store (in my area) always have enough phones for everyone.

what am i missing?

With your attitude, I'm guessing you will be missing the iPhone. :D

My pre-order confirmation also says this:

Pre-authorization does not guarantee iPhone availability at an Apple Retail Store. iPhone is sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
Your reservation is valid for pickup only at the Apple Retail Store that you selected.
If you do not collect your selected item(s) by the designated date and time, your reservation will be canceled.

So does that mean that even though I have a reservation, someone else could buy my phone at 7 am? Or are specific phones set aside specifically for us?

If that's not a fact then I don't know what is. Right from the horse's mouth ;)

I think you're talking to the wrong end of the horse!;)

As has been mentioned on about 35 other threads on this subject, Apple SPECIFICALLY SAYS that just because you have pre-ordered does not automatically mean that you will get your phone.
It's very clear that even pre-orders are subject to first come, first served.
The reason for this is because no store can absolutely guarantee that they will get their full allocation of phones. So, if for ANY reason (breakage, transit issues, etc), they do not, even if you have a phone reserved at a particular store, should they run out BEFORE you get there, you are SOL.
I tell you this from bitter experience:(- I'll just leave it at that.
