Lately, I've caught myself thinking about Christmas songs. I might start listening after Halloween if I can wait that long and no longer.

Agreed

It's always too early

I hate the mind numbing stuff.

It is long since that I have done the Xmas thing (usually working anyway) and it is even more reason to stay well clear of malls. Fortunately I can get most of what i need at a three times a week market just near where I live.

Any time before December 1 is way too early.

I love Thanksgiving. I think it's the best holiday, but with Christmas getting earlier and earlier every year - now it's starting after Halloween! - it gets so annoying. People just want to skip Thanksgiving.

That goes without saying how ridiculous Black Friday is too.

I think after Thanksgiving is when I start listening

I love Feliz Navidad and could listen to it year around but I spare those around me the pain

You can listen to Christmas music anytime you want. I'd recommend headphones (not earbuds, which tend to leak sound) or relatively quietly in your own home or car.

Bothering/annoying other people by making them listen to Holiday music anytime before late November is a crime against humanity.

It's always to early too listen to christmas music.

There should be a special part of hell reserved for people who play christmas music in public.

Last week of November.

There's some shops here are playing it already. Should be illegal to do so in a public place until last week of November!

Last time my iPod shuffled me into Maria Carey Xmas song collection ... Hot summer, 34 C, don't feel right outside Australia.
Great! Now I have it in my ears: Santa Claus is coming to town

In checking the battlefield rules for the War on Christmas, NEVER!

One summer, there was a radio station that closed, and while it was getting ready to open the new one, it played Feliz Navidad non-stop for a month. :D

I was in the mall one time shopping at probably Dillard's, and they had a stereo sitting in the middle of one of the sections and it started playing Bing Crosby's White Christmas, and some guys came over to turn it off. "It's not even Halloween yet!" Laughed so hard.

Last year, I decided that I wasn't going to listen to any Christmas music until Christmas Day. And so I successfully did it.

So yeah, Christmas Day is the only appropriate time for Christmas music.

It's not that I don't like Christmas music, it's the fact that you only have 25 days to listen to it, and then the moment is gone. And in those 25 days, the same 50 songs are shoved down your throat by all the radio stations, stores, and movies you watch throughout December.

And yeah, it's completely annoying when it pops up on your iPod while shuffling it in the Spring/Summer. But thankfully you can set it up so it omits those songs.

Someone DID get fined for playing Last Christmas by Wham! non-stop one summer. I remember hearing it on the BBC news. :D But it was mostly because they had it blaring out.

How early is too early to listen to Christmas music?

I would say not before 10 am personally. Here is my Christmas playlist.
Paint it Black - Rolling stones
No Surprises - Radio Head
The Day I Died - Just Jack
Welcome to The Black Parade - My Chemical Romance
Mad World- Sacre
Anything by the Smiths....
