My question is how long does it take to get the phone? I believe it will still ship on launch day so then I would get in a few days after that? Or I can ship it to an AT&T store and pick it up there and it is garunteed for me?

if you pre order on the first day they announce it, you get it the day its released.

With both my 4 and 4S, I ordered each from AT&T four or five days before actual launch. Both came the day before launch via FedEx.

I was fortunate in that I live outside of Little Rock, and both phones shipped from Dallas if I remember correctly. Just pre order a week or so in advance and you should be good to go. Good luck!!

Thanks I'll be preordering sept 12 if the rumor is correct that you will be able to on the same day as the announcement.

Pre-ordering unsubsidized iphone from Verizon

The upcoming iphone will be my first iphone. I'm with Verizon and want to keep my unlimited data, therefore I will be paying full price.

Can I pre-order the unsubsidized iphone for Verizon on launch day or will I have to wait until they are available from the carrier?

I checked the Apple store and right now I can only purchase an iphone full price for AT&T only. Will this be the same when the new phone launches?

To all of the people hoping for AT&T to "move up" your upgrade for the new iPhone... I am pretty sure those days are over.

In 2010:

AT&T moved up upgrades for anyone eligible in 2010 before the iPhone 4 was announced.

In 2011:
There were reports of SOME people getting November upgrade dates getting pushed to October for the 4S launch.

AT&T USED to have a policy that allowed "Line #1" of a family plan with a base priced of $100+ to get full upgrades every year. They got rid of that.

In 2011 they changed their official policy on "early iPhone upgrades."

Now... 6 months into any contract, you may upgrade to an iPhone for new price PLUS $250 & $36 upgrade fee on first bill.

Example:
Early upgrade - iPhone 16GB - $199+$250=$449 (Full non contracted price is $649.)

I would say that by putting this specific iPhone early upgrade policy in place, the early full discount (push back date) is NOT going to happen anymore.

I was checking the site also for my next upgrade, which isn't till Jan 10. I had the same thing you posted, but was hoping against hope that they were charging $249 for the phone instead of $199, plus the $36 early upgrade fee. Now I see what is meant. Sheesh. I guess I'll have to sell my 4S first if I want to upgrade early. :(

Anyone ever pre-order from Best Buy? Do they even take pre-orders?

I've got a GC that would take up the majority of the purchase. And I refuse to by accessories from them (jacked up prices).

Don't mean to hi-jack the thread or anything but i've heard so many stories about pre-ordering through apples website come the first day. Is it really as bad as people make it seem (website being slow/unresponsive etc)? This will be my first iphone/first time ever preordering on the first day, and I just want to be prepared because I would really prefer to be in the first batch of deliveries that come on release day.

Here's how pre-ordering works.

You wait until 12AM PDT, or 3AM EDT, and scramble to http://apple.com/iphone.

Then, you select your color, capacity, and carrier.

After that, you select the option to replace a current iPhone on a current AT&T/Verizon/Sprint account. Enter your iPhone's number, your billing ZIP code, the last 4 of your SSN, and your billing password, if you have one. You can change your plan (if you want). Then, you go to checkout, enter your billing and shipping info, and done!

Then, you have three ways to activate the iPhone when it arrives.

1.) Plug it into iTunes, and activate via iTunes.

2.) Activate the iPhone from iOS itself.

3.) Phone AT&T, and have them activate it over the phone.

Then, you've got a working iPhone!

I think the pre orders will start after the keynote.

Same idea as when the new ipad was released....
