How far back for Time Machine?

I have a Time Capsule that I have had for about a year...and I am trying to go back as far as I can but time machine is only showing me the last 3 months. Is there a reason for this? Can I go further back? Thanks.

I was under the impression it's all about the total disk space available?
If you only backed up a small amount of data over that 1 year period, I suspect you could go back the full year to restore versions of files -- since keeping a year's worth of copies of your data didn't fill it up?

Yes. Your Time Capsule doesn't have infinite storage. The amount of time you can go back depends on its capacity and how much you're backing up to it.

and time capsule is not designed to be used for archiving.
