How fast Internet connection do you have?

I have 55Mbps down and 5Mbps up. It is usually around 70Mbps down and 5.5Mbps Up. I do have a soft cap of 400GB per month.

Cox has recently added a bandwidth monitor so you can track your usage. I'm averaging between 100 and 150GB per month.

Also, I think your terminology is a bit mixed up; I can download as much as I like but I don't have unlimited bandwidth - I have 4 Mb/s of bandwidth. Remember, bandwidth = speed :)

I realized that immediately after I posted the poll, see my explanation in the OP ;) You seriously need to enable poll editing

Cox my ISP does call it bandwidth. Which always seemed wrong to me but it is what they call it.

You have a "Bandwidth Allowance" I guess that is supposed to sound better than "Bandwidth Cap" or "Data Cap".

Well so far I don't feel so slow after reading the limited results of the poll. I have the basic broadband offered by Bright House Networks (Road Runner) and I usually get speeds in the 9s--wirelessly in the 7s and 8s.

Insight Digital Cable here. Pay for 20/2, get about 18.5/1.5 consistently. Completely worth the extra $10 to go from 10 mbs to 20 mbs. XBox Live, Netflix, Airplay, and Cafe World can all be used nearly problem- and stutter-free! :)

I pay for 10 Mbps and that's about what I get on Wi-Fi & about 12-15 hardwired. Although only one of my Macs is on Ethernet. (TW Cable Internet)

40mbps with a supposedly 300gb cap, but we've breached that twice and we've never been penalised for it.

I get about 3.5mb/s down on the connection I use. Not very fast in the great scheme of things but fast enough for live streaming video, podcast downloads and Spotify, so it's fine with me :D

How do I know of I have a cap?

With our ISP (TalkTalk), they have a page showing your usage and all that kinda stuff in a pie/bar/line chart form, once you login on their site. I suppose you could contact them as well, and find out that information.

About 1-2 up and .5 down. Cable. *sigh*

Great for everything that I like to do though. I don't often stream HD video but I could see where the extra MB would come in handy.

Get 10-12Mbps download, 1Mbps upload. (I got a free upgrade during the first 3 months of my contract to 30Mbps, which was great!)

It is unlimited downloads, although once you hit 4GB there is throttling between 1700-2200.

It's only happened once so far, and that was when grabbing Linux distros. It's not hard though. I blame Leo Laporte. On days when I stream his TWiT stuff, it can really add up.

interesting source to lay the blame upon.

interesting.

I haven't seen anything like that, at least not lately so I thought I would post one. This is a topic that I'm interested in since I see people complaining about slow connections in the states.

Damn, one mistake. If you have e.g. 5Mbps connection, then please select the 2-5Mbps section (i.e. select the slower option).

Limited bandwidth = Your plan includes e.g. 50GB of data per month
Unlimited bandwidth = You can download and upload as much data as you wish

Qwest DSL - up to 7Mbit (5Mbit download being the norm, 896Kbit for upload). My area is said to be getting updated to the newer speeds (up to 50Mbit depending on plan being paid for) "shortly", but that was a couple months ago. Still, once my area is upgraded, the plan I pay $40/mo for now would become $20/mo - far more reasonable. :D

I have heard that before :p My ISP told you that they are going to install fiber in 2010 which of course sounded great. Last time I asked, it is 2012 now and at the same time, they are installing fiber to houses that are even more far away from the main road than my house :D

They've recently installed fiber to my house :) The speeds are great now most of the time!

30 Mbps, unlimited bandwidth.

Well, not exactly unlimited...there's a theoretical 200 GB per month limit that is never enforced. I go well over the limit every month and have done so for over two years, and my ISP doesn't give a damn.
