How future proof will a 5s be right now?

Okay so now with the upcoming discover 10% cashback with Apple Pay clubbed with double cashbacks , I m thinking of getting a few 5s for few of my long term employees.

How future proof will the 5s will be? Enough for a couple of years?

Yes. Easily. Only real drawback is no Apple pay

I think the 5s still has a few good years left in it. It's guaranteed to be supported on iOS 10 and maybe 11. It runs good on iOS 8 and from videos I've seen, it seems to run well on 9

I've seen a few people post about running 9.0 GM just fine on the 5s.

From my perspective, this is not true at all. Battery life is the same (on 9.1 beta 1).

doesn't the beta always seem to ruin battery on pretty much every phone? It is really the sole reason I stopped running betas....they never get good battery.

9.0 GM isn't beta anymore, it's what's going to be released in a few days (short of something really critical).

I'm running iOS 9 on my 5S and it's been running amazingly well.

As for Apple Pay, no Apple Pay on the 5S

It's still a great phone. I say that it has another 2 or 3 years left before it starts becoming unusable for most uses.
