How get reply text msg to come to email address

I send an email to my stepdaughter as a text phone#@vtext.com (for Verizon)
When she replies it goes to my iphone phone# - not sure why since I sent it fro my email account on my laptop.

Is there any way to have the reply come back to the original sending email address (not to my phone phone #) since that was the origination point? (and note I do not always have the iphone with me)

Might have to do with iMessage and your email address perhaps being associated with your Apple ID for iMessage purposes (assuming you both have iMessage enabled).

She can add it manually when she answering
