Sorry, didn't check the time stamp of the older posts but I was responding to the most current poster with content from within the thread.

You do realize the OP was asking for an opinion about a VirusBarrier Express while not asking about whether or not AV software is needed, right?

The OP might work in an environment that requires the installation of AV software. The OP might attend a university that requires AV software to connect to the network. Or possibly many other scenarios.

Yes, I understand all of that, which is why I specifically said:
You don't need antivirus apps to protect your Mac.
If one of those other scenarios applies, they need AV for those reasons, not for protecting their Mac.
