iPod touch how hard is 1st gen to take apart?

I have an old 1st gen that has a port issue (really have to push hard on the cable to get it to register)

i was wondering if it was worth tinkering with (kinda just for fun)

Not sure, but if it's just an old first gen then you may as well give it a shot 🙂 I would.

No point in doing this in my opinion. The iPod is really old by now.

I would get a new one.

i have a 4S, but I like having one that I can keep in the shower area all the time, and not have to worry about steam killing it.

That's no fun... to the OP, if you think you're up to the challenge, have a read of iFixit's disassembly guides for the iPod Touch (1st Gen) and go from there. Although it's getting on a bit in age, it's still a capable unit and it may not require much effort to restore it to a working state.
