Now that 2018 iPad Pro ‘s have been out for 6 months, what’s the verdict?

Depends on what I'm doing. Wired connection beats wireless in sound quality so it's a big deal if you critically listen to music. Usually I prefer wired on my iPad and wireless on my phone.

To be honest the USB-C has been a minor annoyance. When visiting relatives where before I could just use any of their lightning cables lying around now I can't. I liked being able to use the headphones that came with my iPhone in my iPad.

Yes but a lot of android phones have been using usb-c for years now, including the Nintendo Switch. So you could use other cables or chargers right.

I guess I’m thinking the announcement?

Announcement is 4 months 17 days.

You don’t like the usb-c?

I think it is cool, obviously it is the standard connection with all of the Mac mini, MacBook devices. Maybe ios13 will unlock our iPads to legitimate computers.

I dont have the 2018 iPP but nah i have tons of lightning cables so a port change I wouldn’t benefit from .

And i like wire headphones option for tablets. For phone doesn’t really matter to me

Well, either invest in to a adapter or you could get some quality wireless headphones.

Any quality wireless headphones sound incredible. Especially in gaming like PUBG you can pinpoint sounds to there exact origin. Like footsteps, or suppressed fire and things like that.

My wired headphones and car plugs have the adapter attached to them at all times, so apart from the initial investment it’s not really a problem.

Sure I could use other cables if I bring them. That’s why I said it was a minor annoyance. The relatives and myself don’t use android devices and they have lightning cables all over the house (as do I).

I chose mixed bag simply because of making music. When I’m listening to music, my AirPods or Solo 3 wireless are perfectly fine. But when I’m making music in BeatMaker, even the tiniest bit of latency that occurs between hitting the pads and hearing the sound in my ears will throw me off, so I ended up having to get an adapter to wire up. Problem is, that prevents me using the USB-C to connect any other instruments, audio interfaces, etc.

So I’ve got a hub on the way to alleviate those issues, but it’s a pain point that didn’t exist before, for sure. Having said that, IMO it’s worth the trade off for the superior design, reduced weight, etc.

I have some expensive headphones that are wired and my car is wired. I’ve already lost one dongle so that is a minor hassle.

I have a FLIR infrared camera which has a Lightning connector so I can’t use it on the iPad. I can get a new camera with a USB-C connector but then I couldn’t use it on the iPhone.

I wish Apple would have given us an option for a Lightning input.

Hasn't bothered me at all. I have Apple TVs installed in my classrooms, so I simply mirror the content I need to display to my students, and that includes the transmission of audio.
