:( That's what the temperature reached today in Adelaide, South Australia.

Just got home, put the a/c on about as strong as it can go. Really not enjoying this heat.

Got some pictures I took in the car on the way home, it was 6:40pm and still 45°c

I was just sort of talking about this from someone else from South Australia. Yeah, that is more than just a bit too hot. I think anything over 35ºc (95ºf) is getting too hot. Alternatively I think anything below 20ºc (68ºf) is too cold though. I'm fussy ... and freezing my tits off here in jolly old england. :p

Right now, I'd happily swap 45ºc for < 20ºc :D

Well duh, so would most anyone. :p It's 5ºc right now and raining, as usual but I imagine you'd take that too.

Presumably as someone who (like me) grew up in a warmer climate, would you rather take the heat waves or deal with near constant dreary cold weather and frequent negative degrees for months and months on end? You do completely have my sympathies on the 45ºc thing. It's really difficult to get comfortable like that, especially at night time if you have no A/C.

I love the English weather...

It's currently -5 Celsius (23 Fahrenheit) with a snowstorm expected here in Toronto, Canada. I'll take the current weather in London any day, but will keep my subzero temp. to your scorching Australian heat :D

I just spent 3 months in Fitzroy Crossing, WA, and yes, in the end it was getting too hot (and sweaty)...

A mate of mine is working on a mine out in Western Australia. It's been over 40 there for months and just recently is getting well over 50C during the day. Out in the desert it's not unusual to see temps over 60C though as there's nobody living permanently out there the measurements are informal. 65C has been reported on a few occasions by people.

-22C is the coldest temperature recorded on the continent in 1994 at Charlotte's Pass in the Snowy Mountains.

This climate is rough. 65ºC is crazy stuff though.
I was going to ask if that temperature was measured in the shade, but then I realised, shade .. in the desert?! :D

I think it was easily 5ºC warmer in the sun. Never could understand why temperatures are measured in the shade.

Temperatures are measured inside a white, double-louvered box so that any effect of reflection or radiation from the surface is negated. It's not so much that meteorologists find a shady spot but that the inside of the box is dark.

woo Adelaide! yeh it was very hot here today. luckily i have a pool and me and a buddy where chilling in it most of the day. went to do some watering at 6pm and it was still above 40 degrees, i was dripping with sweat just standing there with the hose. its 37 right now outside at 9.45pm

I just finished my 'scheduled' watering too. Feeling decidedly dizzy. Think it's time to have another cold drink and off to bed. Tomorrow's another stinking hot day. :(

im feeling sorry for you fellas, it was fairly hot here 2day on the Tweed Coast (border of QLD/NSW) until some clouds came over. the humidity is crazy, somewhere around 80%, temperature only just hit 30°C but the humidity is the killer around here.

is your heat dry heat, or does it have humidity in it? i went to Uluru a few years back and it easily reached 48°C, but i wasnt THAT fussed by it because there was no moisture in the air. too bad the aircon in the van broke down hahahahahahaha.

46 would be much too hot fer likkle old me. I think the hottest place I've been is either south Poland or south Spain, 30 degress is my limit. Could never imagine it 16 degrees hotter. Think I'd just sit in a cold bath all day.

yeh its very dry heat this week. but that doesnt mean we dont get humidity (albeit a lot less than QLD). pretty much if you dont have aircon you will be uncomfortable.

guess i dont feel AS bad for you, humidity is the killer!!

We are getting 20cm of snow today and it's aboot -11c right now. :)

Makes it fun for driving and going skiing this weekend.

yuk i hate the cold. anything below 20°C and i need a jumper! the cold is so annoying, i cant even go to the beach and swim when the water temperature is 20°C (i probably could but im just a ***** haha).

We have about 6 inches of snow on the ground right now. You're welcome to come here and take as much as you'd like off our hands :D

That is WAY too hot, just absolutely way too damn hot.

@iBlue - I kind of hate you so much right now. Its actually fairly warm out right now, and its -13C.

Depends on the situation. Today was actually all over the place. During the hottest parts it was dry but once night hit, so did a few storms north and west of Port Pirie, so it got pretty humid.

Dry air plus heat is bearable, but wet air plus heat is painful. Well they're both painful.

Living in the driest state of the driest inhabited continent can really suck sometimes.

I would assume its about -2 to -5C here. I'm sick. I hate cold. Grew up in warm all my life. I want warm. Wanna trade weathers OP?
