battery life is making me nervous.

mine is similar on a linear scale:
34% left
4:12 usage
7:34 standby
Call time 1:39

If I extrapolate from yours and mine I would expect
~6.5 hours usage
~10-11 standby
~call time 2:30 or so...

I still think this is low but we'll see... (I'm on a microcell -- I think that might be part of the problem.)

You dont need cloud on unless you are updating something. You dont need wifi on, unless you want to connect to wifi. Push email is stupid, its simple to just manually push them yourself. Siri should be left on, and nofications can also kept on.

But there is no point in having cloud, wifi, push or bluetooth on when you are not using them.

Of course. You could turn off push email, and just check it manually.

You could turn off the cloud, and every time you change a contact, or reminder, or bookmark, you can turn it on while you make the change, and then turn it back off afterwards.

Why not just put the phone in airplane mode and just turn it off every couple of hours to see if you've got an email or text?

Of turn off data, and when you wanna go online, and you haven't got wifi, turn it on, do your browsing, and then turn it back off?

Or we could all stop making stupid excuses, and hope they fix what is obviously quite a wide spread problem.

If I've got to turn off everything, then I'll find a platform where you don't need to.

So at 3% left,

Usage: 6 hrs, 55 mins
Standby: 21 hrs, 32 mins

I say sacrificing iCloud on my phone was worth it. I have iCloud on my iPod and iPad so if I need iCloud, I'll use that.

Check your cellular data usage.

With iCloud enabled, data is constantly being sent and received, regardless of whether iCloud features are actually turned on or off.

Once I deleted the entire iCloud account from my 4S, it stopped.
Battery life is much (!) better now.

I don't know why, but iCloud seems to be communicating constantly, even if its features are not enabled. Great feature, not so great implementation..

My battery seems to have improved by doing the following:

Wi-Fi > OFF
Notifications >Turned off Weather Widgit, Stocks Widgit
Location Services > System Services > everything off except Cell network search and traffic
Brightness > Auto and 50%
general > Blue Tooth Off, Siri Off
iCloud > Mail Off, Photo Stream Off
Mail, Contacts, Calendar > Fetch New Data > Advanced > iCloud Manual

Also I did a total drain and total recharge twice.

I charged my phone to its max when I got it. Then I put it back in the box in the OFF position. No, I don't get to use any of the cool features, but the battery lasts a long time. (I think. I can't tell cuz it's in the box).

But seriously. There is little point turning ALL the fun stuff off. It makes the iPhone kinda worthless.

I get the humor and the point -- but part of it, for me anyway, is trying to determine exactly which of the items may be causing the problem so that I can selectively turn things on and off as needed to manage power. Especially if I'm staring at the beginning of an 18 hour day with no chargers in sight.

Hearing from people that are seeing differences in power utilization is important. I realize a number of you that aren't having a problem think that we are all ****heads but trust me -- if it were reversed you'd be looking for a solution as well.

lmao i KNEW someone else would try to find this and think it was legit. But sorry its wrong.

I just left this message to him.

"hey pudquick. um the reason why it is sending and receiving is because on the previous page (USAGE PAGE), it pings your icloud capacity storage size to the servers (Total Storage/Available). That's why it only increases when you go in and out of the "Cellular Usage" page.
Also that's why it doesnt work when you turn icloud off -- because it doesn't have the storage fields on the USAGE page anymore."
