Wow, is it just me or does this feel like The US culture wars, but over USB-C and A? My word.

If you like USB-C, great. If you like USB-A, that’s great too. There’s no need to attack someone because they prefer one over the other.

That's fine, so long as USB-A is Trump.

No you don't - the Ethernet port could be faulty just like the adapter could be. If by chance one of your FOUR USB-C ports has gone faulty you've got 3 more to try, if your built ethernet port has gone faulty, you're stuck completely.

For the record i've had neither an ethernet adapter nor a built in ethernet port go faulty so either way I think you and many people in this thread are making outlandish hypothetical situations that in reality they have and never will face.
I’ve had plenty of Ethernet and video dongles go bad. Not hypothetical. You have an extremely hostile posting style which indicates a lack of experience or simple trolling. Some of us have worked in IT for a long time.

Some of us have sold thousands of MacBooks to thousands of people there for anecdotal evidence is of a higher quality than yours. You seem easily annoyed about USB-C ports.

Tromp is USB-A? Whom do you mean is Tromp? Could it be, man who was completely correct about why excessive complexity lead to self-crashing planes, despite Expert Consen-Sus that Eet Is Merely Software Error, Very Small, No Problem Fixed By Three Months?

Actually, I've just realised the main thing I do hate and want changing about MacBooks.

Change the key cap material so that within 30 minutes of first using it the matte layer hasn't already started to wear off and left ugly shiny patches every where. 15+ years I've hated this for!

(On side note I'm using my M1 MacBook Air in the bath and I'm missing the Touch Bar, it's so much less intuitive and enjoyable to use function keys for screen brightness and volume. Especially now they've been moved around from different places to the iMac Magic Keyboard.
