i use dashboard several times a day; calculator, unit convertor, calculator, calender, weather (for several cities), clock (again for several cities in other time zones), & dictionary......it's convenient

All the time - use it for my food shopping list when I find out I've run out of something, if I'm on the phone and need to jot something down, the calculator, iStat Pro, iCal, and any other stuff in Stickies.

Very useful app, and very cool way of accessing it.

It must be because I am a brand new windows convert - but I never use mine. I do not like the fact that I have to activate them and they can not just be on the screen so that I can view them and use other apps. Vista, Yahoo and Google all provide nice side bars for the widgets that I like. But since moving to Mac only I never use it. I might be missing the boat and you are able to put them on the screen and use other apps and I just have not learned it yet as I have said being a new convert and new to the Mac world there is still a ton that I have to learn.

there is a terminal codethat drags the dashboard widget off the dashboard to the desktop.

I find dashboard a bit of a waste of space.

But when I use it, it's for:

- Weather reports in multiple locations.

- Times in multiple locations.

- Translation tool. (But Google's translation tool is far better for large amounts of text).

to me there only important during school since i play them after im done my assignments which are usually done early so then i just download and play some widget games

If you really want widgets on your desktop, then look into Yahoo widgets. They do have a Mac version.

I use obsucator when coding. Otherwise I have poker and minesweeper and use them when I'm bored. I usually just turn off Dashboard.

Forgot to mention - I use the BBC Weather Widget too, especially useful when I want to quickly check the wind conditions for when I play golf.
