If 150mm is tiny, what are people like me who have even smaller wrists supposed to call ours? Super-tiny? ultra-tiny?

Apple claims the Ultra fits wrists from 130mm and up.
Well, it looks like I'm "ultra-tiny" alongside you, because when I remeasured twice, I got 140mm. That makes more sense, seeing as how this is how I looked when I tried the darn thing on:

I'm not sure how Apple says it'll fit wrists of 130mm. I really like it, but man, I'm not sure if that level of thicc is for me.

Small wrist here. I’m amazed how smaller in hand the ultra looks and feel. Been wearing a Rolex for the last 10 years. Overall case with crown even a BLNR with a 40mm wears bigger than an ultra watch. Also the weight is night and day. Don’t bother me to wear a Rolex don’t bother me to wear an ultra watch.
Good point. I was worried about the large size, then I notice my Rolex GMT is pretty large, but never thought anything about it.

Frankly, I think the ultra looks a bit silly on a lot of people. It’s just too chunky. (I feel the same way about oversized mechanical watches.) I also like all the people who get this watch because it’s the “best” one—not because they’re actually using it for its features.

by that logic, you seem to be liking all those people who buy a Porsche or BMW or a Jeep or a Escalade because almost all of them never use the “features” of those cars…
But, entitled to your opinion you are

I have 165 mm wrist. Never gave it a second thought when wearing my Rolex GMT for years. That’s a large watch. Since the Ultra is larger than the other Apple Watches. People have become obsessed with it looking good on their wrist. No problem at all.

I’ve got a tiny wrist: only about 150mm. The Ultra still attracts me because it seems so utilitarian thanks mostly to it’s large screen and endurant battery. I’m curious what users here who’ve already got one and are similarly (if not quite as) small think of the practicality of actually wearing this thing?

I don’t want to look too ridiculous, and there’s also the angle of comfort that’s hard to gauge just by trying something on for a few minutes in a store.
I believe my wrist is 144mm (edit: I was off! Just measured again, I’m 160), if I'm remembering right. I had the same dilemma before I bought mine January last year. The Ultra looks fine on my wrist. If I'm looking at it through my phone camera, it looks giant, but look at yourself through a mirror with it on. It'll look a lot less massive. And you can judge how others would see you with it on.

Otherwise if you like it, who cares what others think. Not one person has come up to me and told me my Ultra looks large on my wrist.

Personally, it did take a while getting used to it from my 41mm Series 7. It's huge in comparison. The larger screen is nice, I never have to worry about battery life, and the action button is more useful to me than I thought - I have it set to run a shortcut to start various different workouts, launch a web browser, or open my car's watch app.

At least, depending where you buy it from, you can try it within your return window. If it doesn't work out for you, just send it back.

A good portion of style conventions relate to our innate perceptions of weight, size, distance, ergonomics.

For wrist watches, the general consensus looks something like this in cm:

and in inches

Ultra is 49mm. And, as you can see, it's going to look big on nearly everyone aside from those with much bigger than average wrists.

There is a "hack" for smaller wrists to get away with a disproportionately big wrist watch (or really any oversized jewelry or accessory) and still look stylish/proportionate. And that's switching your entire wardrobe to oversize:

I'm not for or against is. But you can make Ultra work with smaller wrists.

Style aside, however, there are also ergonomics to consider: Some find that Ultra looks great but snags too much on doorways, sleeves, duvets, etc.

I recommend finding a place with a good return policy so you can try it out at home for a few days at least.

Male with 165mm wrist, also used to wearing large watches, Rolex, breitling, Ultra is ok for me as well as 45mm Apple Watch, which I have as well.

I'm late to the thread, I know, but here's my 2¢.

When the Ultra first came out, I was 100% convinced that is was too big for me. I've got a medium sized wrist but I'm not particularly tall, so I thought pulling off the 45mm was as big as I was going to be able to wear.

When the Ultra 2 came out, I happened to be in an Apple Store and saw a friend with one. I tried it on (for the first time, actually) and liked it. Even my wife says it's not at all too large nor would even get a second look for maybe being too big. Especially when worn with the Ocean band, which kind of fills out the look along the sides, I think it's not too big at all.

So I've completely changed my opinion about the Ultra and likely won't go back to a smaller model unless the next Ultra is substantially larger.

Now, there is still something to be said for my old 45 mm Series 7 Hermes stainless model -- it does fit better under a slim cuffed dress shirt, so the Ultra isn't perfect for all situations. I kept the 45mm Series 7 when I got the Ultra 2, but haven't worn it more than a few times in all the time I've owned the Ultra 2. Besides, the battery on my Series 7 is at 83% health level and drops at a rate of nearly 10-12% per hour, so it barely makes it through a day with anything but the most basic of watch faces. Thus it rarely gets used, and then really only for a few hours at a time (like a formal party I went to about 6 months ago where the Ultra didn't fit well under my suit's shirt cuff).
