I find the duster that came with the mac is much better than the microfibre ones I have. Other than that I absolutley love this machine. This is my first ever mac and I won't be leaving any time soon :) I have the 27 3tb fusion with the 680mx and wouldn't trade it for any other pc. This is the first computer my little boy will know, when i compare it to my first computer i wander what the hell he will be using in 25 years time!

i love my 27 inch iMac
handles everyting great and fast and gaming on it is sweet no regrets
worth every penny!! :D:D:apple:

What cleaning tools do you use to remove the dust from the screen?

I actually took some glass stovetop cleaner/polish and gently and carefully cleaned my 12 imacs and polished them up and no it's like a new car finish.

I bought a 27" custom build with a 680MX and upgraded CPU - no problems with the LCD screen and everything is pretty stable. I've pushed it pretty hard when it comes to video compression, playing games etc. and no problems have arisen.

I love it, but I'm sorta wishing now I went for the 3TB fusion drive instead of the 1TB, I know this might be a stupid ? but is it possible for apple to take my MAC away and put in the 3TB fusion drive or will I have to buy a brand new iMAC late 2012 and sell my old one?

iMac 27/Fusion/i7.

LOVE IT!

Having the various ports on the back is of no concern to me. Once everything is plugged in it doesn't get changed. I never need the card slot.

Audio out was easy. I am running a Yamaha amp driving 5 quality speakers, and using the optical link from the iMac. Music reproduction is outstanding.

When I need headphones I plug them into the AMP - easily accessible and they cut out the speakers automatically.

Most of the time I do not need the audio, and the amp is not used. The iMac still provides the usual startup chime even when the optical link is in place.

Glad to see everyone is getting on great with their iMacs as am I! This thing is the best computer I have ever owned ;)

It's amazing!

Like the OP said:
The speakers could have a little more bass, but I use a big surround sound system for my iMac anyway so that is not a problem for me.
The screen does gather dust and fingerprints easy so I bought a microfiber cloth from the Apple store to clean it.
As for booting up, it takes about the same amount of time that it did when I first bought it, maybe that is because I upgraded everything on it?

Overall it's a great machine and I am very happy with it. Just like I am with the fully upgraded 15" Retina MBP. :)

Oh by the way quick question for you guys.
When you boot up your iMac, assuming you use the Apple wireless KB and Mouse (or Magic TPad) apple gave you, does it take a while after it boots up to work?

Like in mine bootup pretty quick. Have to wait about another 10 seconds before the green light comes on to use the kb and mouse, makes it annoying after booting up so I tend to just put it in sleep!

Anyone else find this?

Just wondering how people are enjoying their new imacs. Had mine for about 5 months now. Still super quick but I've noticed:
- Fusion Drive bootup is slower, takes about 20 seconds to boot now. It was around 12 before.
- In the past couple of months I have been able to hear the fan, either because I'm more finetuned to it, or because its started coming on more often?
- The screen is PITA to clean like oh my god does it love finger prints!
- I'm happy with choosing a 21.5 inch, perfect screen size for me.
- Speakers could be bassier! :)
Apart from that I love the machine!!

The late 2012 iMac was my first Mac and I'm so glad I choose the iMac/Mac for my new computer, I'm glad I went for the 27 inch model though. My only regret is not moving earlier. I can honestly say that there's nothing I miss about Windows.

My Fusion Drive loads up in around 15 seconds still (I timed it the other day out of curiosity to see if it loaded as quick as when new and it does, exactly).

Mines as quiet as it was new and its a little warmer now here in the UK than it was in January (which was when I got my iMac).

Speakers, yeah lacking in bass, but bass aside, I am impressed with the overall sound quality.

Regarding cleaning the screen. I use a couple of micro fibre cloths, one slightly damp with water (not too wet) and a dry one to wipe the screen dry. It cleans and shines the screen superbly, no streaks at all as long as you wipe the screen dry with the dry micro fibre cloth.

Overall I'm really pleased with my iMac and the move away from Windows :)

my iMac worked fine until broke down because of HDD. Apple Hardware Test reported error 4HDD/11/40000000: SATA(0,0). now it's in service facility.:(

well, I'm totally happy with quality of screen - how it works - colors, contrast, low reflections of lights etc. what about PITA - I don't have any problems with it, I simply don't touch it and my family didn't do it too. I removing the dust from its surface every 3-5 days, blowing on it and after remove leftovers by default fibre.
Love my new 27" iMac but there is a network issue, often after deep sleep I can't access shared drives on the PC that is on the same network and requires a restart to fix it.
I'm not sure about what kind of network do you talking, when there are several machines working together? I experienced wi-fi issue about which I've read several time, but not often. few times. it appears in self disconnecting Mac from network.

I have mine for about a month. Already needed to replace my power supply and no I have a row of dead pixels in the side of the screen. I also have light ghosting problem.

Fusion Drive is good. Boot is faster than my previous Windows computer, but not blazing fast.

The machine is very cool and quiet.

(I can't replace it at the local Apple Store because I live in Israel and we don't have an official Apple Store here :( so I'm really feeling bad and don't know what to do.)

I have almost maxed-out iMac 27" with i7, 32GB, GTX680m, and 1TB Fusion Drive.

The best computer ever

No complaints, worth every penny. Mostly used for SW development, awesome tool.

Yeah I agree, all else if the guaruntee fails some home insurance policies or credit cards will cover it for you.

He probably means Image Retention. Where the image temporarily burns itself onto the screen. So going to a desktop view to a dark screen you see the "ghost" of the previous image. Like faint outlines of the Dock, icons, menu-bar, etc.
