Considering most of their products are marketed towards artists.

Most of their products haven't been marketed towards artists in ages and the iPad has never been.

If your parents already have the Air then the better answer is for you to just try it. Every artist is different and you may be just fine with using it. After all it has worked for the likes of David Hockney, Jim Lee etc

If your an artist and is really die hard for drawing on a tablet. The Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 edition or the Galaxy NotePro 12.2 edition is the best because it comes with its own stylus (S-pen).Regular stylus's do not have an accurate tip and they block your view when drawing. The S-Pen is by far the best stylus to date, with zero competition. The S-pen is pressure sensitive and is highly accurate on the screen similar to a regular pencil or pen. It is about $50+ more expensive then the iPad, but if your a drawing freak, you would love the NotePro 12.2.

Procreate on the iPad is excellent for drawing. The Wacom stylus or any of the stilii with a microfiber tip are great.

Those suggesting an $80 Wacom tablet connected to a PC are failing to mention that you don't see what you are drawing on that tablet. You have to train yourself to translate pen inputs on a piece of plastic to cursor movements on a screen. I've tried it and it sucks. Serious artists would get a Wacom tablet that IS an LCD display, but those are mucho bucks. For casual artists and even many serious ones, the iPad with either a passive stylus or perhaps a bluetooth one is a very economical and effective choice.

Highly recommend Ipad for Artists for those looking to do art on an Ipad.

There's alot of good info on Apps, styli, technique, etc.

Yes the note is better in technology for artists but the apps available are very limited. I tried to get into using a note and I just couldn't. Even the typography making app is better in IOS than Android. (graphic design major)
