It probably doesnt sound right because you are BRITISH and it is spoken as ALUMINIUM...In America where it is spoken Aluminum it sounds right.

A-lum-in-um

Doesn't make it more right, I don't typically mind the different spellings in American but in this isntance aluminum dosen't jive with the actual pronunciation in British English, french and Italian (where they are spelt the same).

technically aluminum it is incorrect.

Smart cover (Black, want a blue or green one :D). The back of the iPad 2 is quite strong. No stretches at all so far
I bought it on launch day.

I have had two. My first one was fine except for a couple of tiny little black dots on the back. They almost looked like they were from a tiny Sharpie or something. Didn't bother me--they were barely noticeable. There was also a tiny scratch in the bezel area on the top left of the screen. It was that way out of the box.

That iPad developed an issue with getting lots of dust under the screen so I exchanged it. My replacement is cosmetically perfect--not a scratch to be found. However, it does have a little residue on the underside of the screen--looks like it happened in the factory. You can only see it under direct flourescent light--in fact it's not even visible out in the sunlight. I don't worry about it too much as it doesn't affect use of the iPad and is not really damage.

I used a screen protector for the first two days and promptly ditched it. It kept coming up at the edges and was hard to clean off. I use a $10 silicon back protector and a $10 zip up style folio case, both of which I got on ebay. Together, they protect the screen and the back just fine. I zip around all day with my iPad in my backpack and it hasn't picked up the tiniest nick yet.

Using just a smart cover and its in mint condition.

And im not even that sensitive/careful about it.

Power Support Crystal Film, Apple iPad Smart Cover (Navy, Red & Orange) and Tunewear eggshell, a bit dent on the upper right corner, just dropped it from table.

Not a scratch.
And to note every demo model in the store I originally purchased mine has not a mark on their backs either. Go figure, more durable than folks think me thinks.

I'm probably one of the most OCD people, I clean my iPad almost everyday. What I have noticed is in normal light, the iPad's screen looks amazing and perfect. However if you draw and blinds and turn on your main light, hold the iPad about 30cm from it and tilt it down and there are scratches on the screen (although hairline). This may not be in all cases, yet there are two hairline scratches on mine.

On the back, I have one scratch (3mm) from the charger slipping and I have two little scratches near the bezel where the Smart Cover hinges go.

i have a dent on the back corner from a fall while it was in a zip up case. The zipper from the impact was what cause the dent. I also have a 2 inch thin scribble like scratch on the screen which I have no idea how that got there.

Other than that the iPad works great!

I also clean mine every day.

Can barely notice my little dents but I have the same on the IPhone 4. If it hits a door or table it will sometimes create a tiny chip.

Saying that it's better quality than other brands.

Had mine since UK launch. I use the smart cover, but besides that, no protection. I bash it about loads, smash it in to everything, take it every where with me, and I've not got a mark on it. Even the missus with her rings all over her ****ing chav fingers hasn't done damage to it.

iCarbon skin on the back, PS screen protector on the front (for fingerprints), and a smart cover just in case. So far, not a scratch on it.

Glass screen is perfect, a few little light scratches on the back.

Use my iPad 2 naked except for the smart cover, no ugly skins or bulky cases for me.

Mine is perfect, out of the box new. I have mine in a switcheasy canvas and have since 3 days after I got my iPad 2....

It may make the thing a bit more bulky, but i like the way it feels in the case more then out of the case. This, along with a built in stand, being able to just toss it in my bag without worry, and to be able to lightly toss it onto an outdoor tile (rough) table without caring is the best part of all.

Oh yeah, and it has magnets so it unlocks the iPad when you open it, alla smartcover.

Mine is naked, except for a wool and leather smart cover I made myself (with all the requisite magnets).

Not a scratch or dent anywhere.
