I’m jumping down from a 11PM to a mini simply because of form factor. I am only worried about battery life. I know it’ll be significantly less then the 11PM. I bought the mini with apples battery case in mind. Does anyone remember how long it usually takes Apple to put them out? I’m trying to remember and I think when they were first introduced, it was like the beginning of the following year of the release of the phone, but I’m not sure and can’t remember.

I prefer the Apple case simply because of the integration, but if anyone knows of another good battery case, you’re more then welcome to direct me.

I bet we’ll see one form Apple in the spring. But I hope it will be possible since the mini MagSafe charging will be limited to 12w inseparable of 15.

Last year they released/announced it on 20.11.2019, so hopefully we might still see it this year.

Let's hope it is also less ugly this time around.... ;)

I think I would be waiting for the Apple version, but have any other brands launched battery cases for the 12 mini?

I’m kind of hoping for a MagSafe battery that just attaches to back of phone or case. But I’m not sure if it could have enough power after the loss of wireless charging.

Does MagSafe allow for such power passthrough or is this mere hope?

I don’t know but I assume it would be a function of the battery. Previous apple batterys did allow pass through if I remember correctly

No, what I mean is will they create a battery case that will transfer power through MagSafe/Wirelessly vs connecting to the lightning port at the bottom of the phone. All prior Apple battery cases have transferred the power through the lightning port, not wirelessly. I think it would be very interesting if Apple launched a magnetic battery pack similar to how the wallet works now.

Yes I think we are saying the same thing.

But why use the lightning port when it has MagSafe. Imagine if it just attached on, did it’s job and you could take it off again. If it will charge at 15W and give you a relatively quick boost up it would be amazing. And when plugged in to a charger it could pass through to the phone first, then charge itself. That way when on the road you could charge both with one wire and be ready to go in the morning.

here is an example, priced reasonably until you notice the $40 shipping charge

it’s a first step

Yup, yup. That would be great. And if was removable like the concept, that would be even more convenient.

$40 shipping?! lol

I don’t think we will see a MagSafe battery pack this go-round. Maybe in another year or two.
Well it’s starting to appear after market, so I’m hopeful Apple won’t bypass that revenue stream. Because once you get one you most likely will be able to use it on multiple phones over time. If they don’t sell it to you someone else will and it’s missed revenue.

Love the battery case as a power bank, hopefully it’s here 1st week dec

I’m no expert but why would a battery case have any more effect on battery life than plugging phone in or charging wireless?
Because it's always charging during the whole day whereas a normal phone setup when you only charge at night. I'm also a novice but I would think that would have an impact on the battery health, but maybe not.

Don’t know. Pervious apple batteries I’ve had never seemed to be affected by it, but I don’t check battery health but every once in awhile
