If you want, you could leave your computer on 24/7 with possibly no problems. The first thing that would get damaged would be the hard drive, since it has to spin for such a long period of time. A dimming screen would occcur over a long period of time, 1.5 hours shouldn't do anything bad.

I leave my mac on all day, and put it on sleep when I go to bed. I rarely shut it off or restart.

doesn't the hdd spin down when not actively being addressed?

air rarely ever sleep mine. the only time i sleep my macbook is when i'm going to move it. i use as a desktop 99%. except when i exercise the battery.

when i had a desktop, i didn't sleep it for years.

I would rather have the computer at sleep everytime, but I can't stand the blinking light. I sleep in the same room the Macbook is in, so if anyone knows how to turn every exterior light of the computer(such as that blinking light) I would gladly appreciate your tips. Thanks in advance!

there are 2 solutions -- (1) a piece of tape, and (2) shutdown, and (3) just leave it on and let the display sleep [a steady light that doesn't blink].

I have tried all those before. I just thought there was a 'hacker' way of shutting down that light, through software means. Oh well I guess I'll have to keep shutting down lol. Thanks a lot for the quick answer!
