How long can I realistically expect the battery to last?

actually no, 11 inch, the one in my sig...i think its humbled up a bit now...77%, 4 hours

Not by the user, it can by Apple.

Even then a user could replace one when the time comes in very little time, and with very little skill needed.

This might be relevant to your uses: I get a MINIMUM of 3 hours watching YouTube videos pretty continuously on my late 2011 15" MBP.

Nah it's true, mind you, half of it is probably solid logos since i listen to a lot of music on youtube, but i also watch videos too. I generally get about 3 hours doing that, but maybe you were right, 2.5 is a little more accurate.

I find that I get more than the 5 hours on my 2010 11", but I generally only do web surfing and typing on it.
