You can eventually dump the battery complication. That one is popular for new watch owners, but many watch owners realize that they never come close to running out of battery in a day. So, they replace the complication with something else and forget better monitoring all together.

Exactly my experience.

I put the date (and time) on the top row.

Fantastical (calendar) in the large, middle section.

Then across the bottom Carrot Weather, Activity rings, and Workout.

You're certainly on to something there. I've taken up a complication with this for 2 days now , & even with playing with Watch more than you would normally as its new , come bed time I'm no where near empty. So I can then use another complication.

Even though I've removed my battery complication, I will mention one thing as a caveat - very occasionally (maybe 2-3 times over the last several months of ownership) - even though my watch is on its dock, and nightstand mode is activated, it hasn't charged. The next day, it'll shut down some time mid/late morning as a result and need a full recharge.

Not sure if it's the connection between the watch and the dock, the dock/cable, or the watch itself that's the issue (it's not a power outage as we have a generator) but it has happened as I said a couple 3 times. Without that complication I don't notice until the watch shuts down.

Ditto. I think I have had this happen twice in my >1 year of AWS0 ownership. The nut is that I think I did not put the AW solidly on my charging stand, so it did not charge overnight. I never knew until later the next day when it crapped out. I carry a travel watch charging cable in my laptop bag at the office, so it was just a quick recharge, and I was back in business.

For me, this is a 0.5% probability of occurrence, so I just accept it and optimize my complications for other preferred functions.

Also, the battery percentage is one swipe away in control center (at least in Series 2). I use different faces depending on what I'm doing, but my "standard" for a normal workday is:

Now that's a damn good point about battery in CC , something that I just didn't think. Yup it's not immediately there , but hey it's only a swipe. The more I look at others faces , the more I think it looks better & makes sense to have date alongside the time. Damn you all !! Now to find another complication & redesign.

I've had a watch since launch day 2015 and I still fiddle with them all the time! It's a good problem to have. :)

especially now that it's just a swipe up away

Darnit! You beat me to the punch line...grrr.

I am still finagling with mine since getting the 2. My problem is that I can't get away from the modular face. I have it set up with the day and date in the top left, of course the time top right, calendar in the middle and on the bottom i have Wunderweather or whatever its called, rings in the middle and battery bottom right.

I want to put a different complication bottom right instead of battery but I don't have anything other than stock. On that note, I should cruise the app store for watch apps sometime soon as I haven't looked in probably a year lol.

Does the stock mail app say how many new messages you have? Does it give any indication that you have new mail?

Darn, I'm now having to go play with all the different faces all over again! :D

One thing I wish is for it to be easier to slide from face to face. I know they did it this way to make it harder to accidentally switch faces, but the way I've been using faces, they are more of information screens, so being able to swipe rapidly through them would allow me to glance faster through all the information I want to see. I also like the large "buttons" I get with the X-large complications, and would use them more if I could swipe rapidly through my watch faces.

I like the multi color on this face. You got me messing around with it. Also good point on removing the battery status. I was heavy usage on my first full day, I had it on for about 17 hours and still 30% left when I charged it.

I noticed it happening a couple times with my AW0 so I took it off charger to get it off that Mode, but it can be a bit stubborn. I thought only when the AW is on its side is it in Nighttime Mode. I don't know why and how it got activated if AW was right side up on charger?? It wasn't perfectly right side up, but close.

For me I really only like two faces, the utility with numbers visible and X-LARGE.
Apple needs to make a store for the watch faces asap.

It's definitely IMO one of the best locations. The secret is to not have complications with numbers beside each as it makes it less easy to read quickly. Apple has designed a bit more space between the time and upper left spot so the date does work well there. I also like the date at the lower right as it's a bit easier to tap the date under a shirt cuff and then see your calendar of events, instead of "reaching over" to upper left corner to tap the date.

I have a watch face for work hours, one for evening, one for sleep, one for the weekend, and one for business meetings. Love my AW!
