I've been using my 13" MacBook Pro with Touch Bar for just under six years at this point. My previous machine was a similarly sized Sony VAIO Z Series that I used for eight years. I will try to use this device for as long as possible, but starting this year the battery life dropped significantly and says "Service Recommended" and the "H" key works intermittently.

I am reluctant to upgrade at this time because I don't like the notch on the new Apple Silicon MacBook Pros and the dropping of the Touch Bar (although realistically, I know Apple will never bring the Touch Bar back on a newly-designed MacBook. So if my current MBP dies, I will default to my Windows PC if I need a full desktop experience in the foreseeable future.

I still am using a mid-2011 27” iMac as my daily driver.
Specs?

Not often I see the old timers I used to see here. I remember you. To put things into perspective, I think the last time we interacted was before you even got your iMac. Heh.

I replace every 4-5 years on average depending on what apple have on the market.

2011 pro 15 -> 2015 pro 13 -> 2020 Mba (intel) - purchased because the 2015 Pro was getting long in the tooth and out of warranty, didn't support modern video codecs in hardware, etc. I really wanted a more current CPU and USB type C but the keyboards on the 2016-2019 models were trash.

The 2020 intel was a big mistake. I went air because lack of Touch Bar and non butterfly keyboard, but it was just not powerful enough and fan noise was nuts. If only I knew the M1 Air would have been such a rocket ship in comparison - but I figured there was a 50/50 chance of Apple completely screwing up the coming new models (Apple Silicon) and didn't want to (at that time) be an early adopter of Apple Silicon.

I replaced the 2020 air with a 14" Pro though because... well the thermal performance on that thing was hot garbage and the M1 Pro machine was SO much better.

I can write off computers as a tax deduction though, and I use them heavily for my job so... dealing with 10 year old hardware would drive me insane.
